Diamond Men (2000)

Synopsis: Stuffy, over-the-hill diamond salesman forms lasting friendship with brash whippersnapper through their shared love for a low-rent brothel outside of Altoona, Pennsylvania.

Blurb From the VHS Jacket: “Trust no one. Watch your back. Guard your jewels.”

What Did I Learn?:  Ladies, if you’re thinking of placing a giant eye tattoo right above your breasts, don’t... just don’t.

Really?: So wait... a hot, 20-something female jewellery store employee hits on the store’s 70s-something owner, and he doesn’t suspect anything until items start to go missing?

Rating: Diamond Men is an intelligent, and well-written character-driven drama about an soon-to-be-retired jewellery salesman who is forced by his boss to show the ropes to a younger (and much more obnoxious) man. Robert Forster and Donnie Wahlberg (former New Kid on the Block, and older brother to Mark) share some great comedic chemistry, and the film even features a cameo by Jasmine Guy (best remembered for the Cosby Show spinoff A Different World) as a sexy Madame. Highly recommended. 9/10 stars.
